It's In The Lick Of It 


Composed of parts of my mouth juxtaposed with a found Victorian penny lick. 

The insinuation of our first meals - a memory of oral satisfaction.

Inspired by the psychoanalytical cannibalistic metaphor of consuming and being consumed. Devouring and being devoured. With a reference to rituals; not just everyday rituals such as eating and bathing but also the Christian rituals of the Communion/Eucharist. Marina Warner describes this process of consuming the sacrament of the Eucharist as a fundamental human desire to incorporate the object of passion.
